Bio: 
Bristin Scalzo Jones holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley. She teaches environmental literature in both English and Spanish at UC Merced. Her research focuses on the intersections between ecocriticism, animal studies, and literatures in a variety of languages with a specific focus on interspecies communication. She earned her B.A. at Stanford University in “Writing and Environmental Ethics” (an Individually Designed Major) and her Master’s from the Università di Bologna, Italy in Comparative Literature. In 2018, she was honored with UC Berkeley’s Teaching Effectiveness Award, the most prestigious award that can be conferred upon a UC Berkeley Graduate Student Instructor.
